About us
A small crew with a long memory
Djurs Tours is run by local guides, historians and viking enthusiasts who would rather show you Djursland than tell you about it.
Our story
Founded on a stubborn love for this peninsula
Djurs Tours began with a simple frustration: thousands of travellers step off cruise ships in Aarhus every season, and almost none of them ever see Djursland — the peninsula just north of the city where the Viking Age left its deepest marks.
So we built the tours we wished existed. Days that combine real archaeology with the landscape that produced it: burial mounds in Mols Bjerge, the ruins of Kalø Castle, the coastline at Jernhatten, and the bays the dragon ships sailed out of.
Today we run four different experiences — from a gentle walk to a full-day expedition — always in small groups, always with a guide who knows the ground under your feet.

How we work
Four things we refuse to compromise on
Local to the bone
We live here. Every route, viewpoint and story on our tours comes from years of walking this landscape ourselves — not from a guidebook.
Small groups only
We keep groups small so there is room for questions, for stopping, and for the quiet moments that make a place stick with you.
History, told honestly
No horned helmets. We separate the myth from the archaeology and let the real story do the work — it is far stranger than the legend.
Timed for your ship
Most of our guests arrive by cruise ship. Every tour is built around a 9.00 departure and a 15.00 return, with buffer built in.
